It’s just how it is overall with nursing homes. My husband was at Creekside Village for a while. There’re shared units with a shared bathroom, but it’s separate where you don’t have to be in contact with your roommate. And the building was very nice and very clean. The facility was very well lit, spacious and clean.

Aunt stayed for 2 weeks while primary caregiver was out of town. When family came to pick her up, she was asleep at a table along with another woman. Her glucose level was over 400 – no one had administered her medication nor monitored her diabetes. Restroom facilities were filthy & caked in feces.

It is a big building that resembles a mid-century multi-storied apartment building that has seen brighter days. It is situated about a block off the main streets and backs up to a quiet, safe residential neighborhood that boast nice well maintained sidewalks. The facility also has a very nice fenced in courtyard outdoor area that is available for the enjoyment of residents and staff. It is not enormous, but it is much larger than most urban facilities' outdoor spaces and provides trees, plantings, a walking path, and shady places to sit and relax or visit. The interior feels dated, stodgy and worn; fully ready to be renovated, updated, and upgraded. The rooms are adequate but not overly large, and most are shared.

Based on inspection findings from the most recent three year period, CMS designates the nursing homes having the worst repeated inspections as being a Special Focus Facility. The facility we looked at was Ironwood Health Rehab, and we were very pleased. The workers were very nice, friendly, and helpful, and they took very good care of my dad.

After three weeks of bites I personally checked her mattress and found bed bugs!!! Grateful to know what was biting her however very upset with the neglect we experienced from the staff and directors at the facility. Upon discovery the bed bugs I was given a roll of trash bags and a check list on what I needed to do before Arrow would come to spray for bed bugs!!!

My Mom was getting bites on her neck, arms, back and legs for 3 weeks. I complained to the directors and staff that something was biting her. After doing my own investigating I found out there had been 2 cases of bed bugs in the facility. Her mattress was never properly inspected for bed bugs by the directors or staff.

It was kind of an obtrusive odor of a combination of B.O. The rooms looked like they just needed a good, fresh coat of paint and a little fixture in there, but it looked very rundown on the inside. The outside was gorgeous, but the inside did not look good. The staff member that gave me the tour was pleasant enough, and all the staff that I saw seemed to be pleasant, too. I felt Holy Cross Village was nice and friendly but too spread out for my husband’s physical capabilities. I thought the dining setup was nice, and the staff seems fine, but it was very expensive.

Each resident has specific challenges with which to cope following their rehabilitation stay. Nursing homes can be owned by private for-profit corporations, non-profit corporations, religious affiliated organizations or the government. Quality of care can vary in facilities in each of the different forms of ownership, and furthermore the type of ownership of the facility will not necessarily indicate the the quality of care at the facility.

I can’t say enough about the Chalet of Niles. I think they are very professional, caring, and loving human beings. In 2016, GLEN BRIDGE N & REHAB CENTRE charged a total of $3,205,695 for 100 Medicare Beneficiaries.
